Voice of Scotland Muslims we will not let this evil devide us. We would die?
Where I live in the Middle East, we get regular updates about St George's Church in Iraq. Canon white is a wonderful man working in very difficult conditions and we pray his work can continue. My husband has a close friend and colleague - an Iraqi man, who has lost two brothers recently in Iraq - this has devastated him and his family. We hear so little about the suffering of civilians who have lost family or those who are fighting to bring some order to the country. Let's not forget its the insurgents who are making trouble there for their own people and its foreign support with arms that enable them to do it. As someone who has worked for many years in the medical profession I feel this goes against every thing that I have ever experienced by my colleagues - the Hippocratic Oath said it all, but to encapsulate: 'do no harm'. A society is judged by the way it treats the most vulnerable in it - the sick, the elderly, the infirm - children. This failed attack was indiscriminate and evil. What does it say about humanity that we will, in the name of anything, hurt those we vow to help?
