2 week old rice cereal?

I'm not able to feed due to health problems and my 2 week old son has been spitting up really badly. He is on Enfamil Lipil.. He also is trying to eat 3 ounces every hour. I tried to burp him during and after feedings and hold him upright for 30 minutes and nothing helps he still spits up all the time. I tried to go by the pediatricians original guidelines of only giving him 2.5 ounces every 3-4 hours but my son screams until we give him his bottle. He will finish the entire 3 ounces and then want another 2-3 ounces 30 minutes to an hour later. The pediatrician recommended putting rice cereal in his bottle. I've read stuff online that says he is to young for this, so I don't know what to do. It's so hard trying to feed him constantly because he won't ever sleep unless we rock him the entire time, as soon as i put him down he screams to eat. The pacifier does not work, he will take it for about 2 minutes and then spit it out and scream until I feed him. My husband goes back to work tomorrow and will be working 14 hour shifts every day and I will be home alone and I have to sleep sometime in order to care for him. Because as of right now he is not sleeping and neither am I. Is he too young for the rice cereal? I don't want to give him something that will hurt him.
